In conjunction with Xingnan's 90th anniversary & Deepavali, Xingnan students and teachers would like to contribute to an initiative titled ‘Love Our Seniors’ by the Ray of hope organization to help the seniors in our community.
This project aims to help our senior citizens living in Singapore. An estimated 50,000 seniors are living on their own at home, during this pandemic; more seniors are forced to stay at home. Because of this, loneliness and suicide issues have dramatically increased among the seniors. As such, Ray of Hope initiated this project to help our seniors in simple ways.
Xingnan's Mother Tongue Department teachers headed this project. During CCE lessons from in October, our Mother Tongue teachers shared with pupils this project and how they can contribute to this initiative.
The organisation requested the following items, to bring a smile to the faces of our seniors, including cards of well-wishes, elderly-suitable treats (such as soft biscuits and colouring books or simple puzzles.
These items were sent to isolated seniors living in HDB houses, Elderly Homes and Community Care Facilities.
